Powder question

Hi All,

Looking for a cleaner burning powder to load 223 REM for my wife's M4, 16" barrel.  I have been loading 55 grain hornady FMJBTs over 24.3 grain of TAC for the Kids 20" barrel AR15 and they shoot fine and  do not foul up the gun very much.  The exact same load in the short barrel M4 will start having jams after about 75 rounds (no jams on the AR15 after 300 shots).  Tried H4198, because I had some and that was a big mistake, jams after one magazine and the internals looked like the gun had been in a fire.  Any suggestions for cleaner powder for this short barrel weapon?

I have excellent luck with H335 and BL-C2. Also a have used Varget with good results.

Varget, at least it don't foul the bore like other's I've tried, Great results with 40-55grn bullets.

AA2230 or Data 68 Powder (if you happened to nab some a while back)-
Clean, good groupings with 50 through 68 gr.

Lots of load data on Accurate Powder site.
Try it.

Thanks for input.  Will try Varget with 55 grain .224s next since I can find that powder.  Been looking for the 2230 for a while but no luck, want to try it in my 45 70.

try bumping your powder charge up a 1/2 a grain at a time and see if that helps it burn cleaner. Your shooting it at a farily mild level. If that doesnt help try aa2230.
