encore 243 for turkeys

i have a encore 243 i am going to use turkey hunting. yes it is legal in alabama as long as it has no scope. anyone got any load data good for turkeys? anybody hunt turkeys with a handgun?

Past experience has taught me to shoot turkeys in the BUTT, vith a high velocity round. I can't depend on them to be still long enough for a neck shot, and if you shoot them anywhere else, it tears them up too bad. That said, I would use a 65-80gr bullet, and not push the velocity. They're not really hard to kill. JMHO...................Bug.

the 243 with 55 grain Bt's would be a turkey thumper. I would place my shot just above the wing so as to break its back. this will not cause damage to the breast and that's about all there is fit to eat on a wild turkey. Just my opinion :D
