H&R
« on: March 05, 2010, 11:12:27 AM »
I was looking at an H&R 22lr pistol today in 95% or better condition.  It has a 6" barrel and was offered for $125 through the end of the week.  Any advice would be appreciated.

What Model #?
Regardless, any H&R in that condition, should be worth the money.
for the most part H&R's were well built, good shooting, no bells or whistles, just good guns!

Now if it is a Sportsman model, that is a whole new ballgame.
They are excellent pieces. great shooting revolvers, if it is a Sportsman model 999. Don't wait, grab it!

Ditto on what Jim said.  I have a '999'.  Now you have to realize that I don't get emotionally attached to many guns.  They are tools and I don't feel bad letting most go down the road if I find I am no longer useing them, or if my needs change.  But I do have a small circle of handguns that I will not part with under any circumstances, and my H&R 999 is one of them!  44 Man

Unlike 44 Man I get attached to every gun that comes into my possession.  As for the H&R 999 it is a fine gun of unique character and manufacturing skill.  My first M999 I bought in college and later sold it because I was broke and got a divorce (I don't know which came first).  Ten years ago I acquired a new M999 and keep it as a safe queen along with its stable mate a M949 Western , a version of the 949 with case colored frame.  H&R guns are nostalgic to a fault!  Great guns.  Enjoy yours.
