A few years back, I worked up a handload using the Barnes XPB 275gr bullet in a FA M555 .50AE. Now that I also have a .500WE cylinder, I thought I'd try the bullet in that case. Unfortunately, when crimped in the crimp grove, the OAL is too long for the cylinder. I see that Barnes now makes 3 different XPBs, specifically designed for the S&W 500Mag. I'm reluctant to buy a box of any of them unless I can confirm that they'll work in the .500WE.
What it boils down to is this: do any of the current production .500 Barnes XPB bullets have crimp-to-nose lengths suitable for the .500WE? I'm hoping someone out there has checked them out. I tried emailing Barnes, but got the impression that they didn't even know about the .500WE, and didn't care.
