Scope Bases for Stevens 200
« on: April 16, 2010, 08:01:35 PM »
Been shopping around for bases and called B-square for a #15550 that fits Savage short action round rec. and they told me it would not fit.   So I called Savage Parts and asked them about the mount and they said any that will fit a Savage 10 will fit.  Also the same guy told me a Weaver #46 was a two pc. base?? ???  I would be better off using a Steel one pc.
So are Steel bases better than Aluminum??  I will be using Weaver Grand Slam Rings.  All the help I can get would be Appreciated.  Thanks Jeff   :)

I have found that on most scopes I have to mount the front ring over the ejection port. I bought a new Long action Stevens 200 that was scoped and had 2 piece mounts. The front one had an off-set ring so it would mount over the ejection port. The other two I have are short action with one piece base. I still mounted the front ring in a groove over the ejection port.
