Hey there, Sam Koger here. I live in southcentral KY, Monticello. Your area should be covered up in deer,, and yes you can shoot any powder,as long as it loads down the barrel. The absolute best time of year to deer hunt in KY, from 30 years of doing so, is first 3 weeks of bow season, before mast starts falling, deer are very easy to pattern, and the rut of course and the last ML season is great here. A lot of young does born in the spring early come in heat first time during the late ML season, deer are usually running everywhere. I also buy the bonuse doe only tags for my zone, 4, archery only, tag out everyyear and sometimes go to a zone 1, unlimited doe tags and get 2-4 more. My wife also hunts, and she gets 2 about every year, lucky woman drew a bull elk tag last year and got a 4x4 first day with a .270 w/muzzle brake I built her. I have taken 2 P&Y deer, and about a dozen between 100-124 inches, all with a bow. I have taken a total of 56 deer with a bow, and about another 110 with rifle and ML here in Ky and Tenn. Holler back if i can be of any help.
