Friday Morning's Thunder Chicken...
« on: April 25, 2010, 06:47:25 AM »
It all came together the natural way and I was done by 545AM on Friday.  I didn't even call.  I set up on a tree line facing a very small block of woods that the Turkeys always roost in.  Sure as hec, I started hearing the hens going at it with a tom gobbling hard behind them.  I decided to not call in fear of the hens leading the tom away from me.  At about 544AM the hens all flew down into a field between me and the wood block.  They landed about 30yds in front of me. ;) I knew this was a done deal.  Then the gobbler flew down about 15yds in front of me.  He wasn't on the ground 10 seconds when I put the hurt on him.  He didnt' have chance to do a ground gobble or puff up, LMAO. 23lbs, 24mm spurs, and an 11" beard.  It was very quick season for me this year....
It's all a hot mess...........

Nice Bird.

Looks like your camo works pretty good in that picture.

Now that's a quick hunt ;D

Not trying to sell camo here, as I am a very big fan of military woodland for hunting all seasons in this part of the country.  IMO, most of the hunting industries camo turns the hunter into black blob after around 200yds.  However, Realtree APG is by far some of the best camo that I have used.  Weather in ghillie suits or just regular hunting clothes.  I have a realtree APG rain suit that will make me all but dissapear too.

Yes, it was a very quick hunt!!! :)  I'm going out on Monday to try and get a friend a bird, so I will get more time with the thunder chickens.
