;) dougell, while the deer have over browsed the northern part of the range, the game and fish has done nothing to improve the game lands that are for game...they are more interested in growing timber to line their pockets at a later date...the areas I hunt in central Pa. are perfect deer cover with lots of browse on the old strip mines...as far as the insurance industry, while they may not have been present at the meetings, I am certain they had pressured people to vote their way...I am 63 and I know the one thing about insurance companies, they love collecting money, but will pull and trick they can to avoid paying out one cent...I have said this before..our local agent taught school for 15 years before going into insurance...he drove a 10 year old 2 wheel drive pickup...with dents all over...after  being in insurance for 5 years or so, he had a new 4 wheel drive, snow machines, 4 wheels, in a few more years his house was paid off and he bought into a ranch for a personal hunting area...not bad...when I  need to file a claim on  damaged topper for my truck...he said its too old and not worth anything...BUT he had b een collecting insurance money on it all these years...some may believe the insurance industry wasn/t involved, but they may believe Mickey Mouse and Santa Clause are real also...

Well I can guarantee that th einsirance industry had nothing to do with it.The ones that pushed and lobbied for herd reductions were the timber industry. They were justified and very vocal about it.The Audubon was aslo a proponenet and they even donated a million dollars to fund some deer research. There isn't one piece of evidence that links the insurance industry to the PGC,period.

The PGC can only do habitat work on the game lands. The vast majority(80 %) of pa is private land. The rest is most state forest which falls under DCNR.The PGC is way undermanned and underfunded but they still do a phenominal job on habitat improvements in this district. They have 2 full time food and cover guys that cover 400 miles and do maintenance work as well as habitat work.
