Coyotes in Louisiana?
« on: April 27, 2010, 11:07:11 AM »
I am getting stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana and I was wondering if the coyote hunting around there was any good? And if there really is any place with open areas to go hunting?

Have not been to FT. Polk since the late 50`s but when I was there on the post were all kinds of wildlife especially feral hogs! Areas outside of the FT. should be excellent for varmits ( all kinds)!
One of your other post was pertaining to catfishing opportunities in the same area. Well just to the west of Leesville are two pretty good size lakes and just a little west of those is the bonaza" Toledo Bend" used to be loaded with fish! I caught several igloo icebox`s full of bream and whiteperch ( crappie) and always tied into catfish to add to the catch!
Lot`s of luck! Hope you like " sand fleas"!!

As far as places to hunt check out www.wlf.louisiana.gov/hunting/wmas/wmas/. Wildlife management areas. Public access.

Used to see them all the time in the marsh while fishing.  That would be around Lafitte area.
