Very interesting and apparently rare item you found.  I'd never heard of them so can't offer any experienced advice.  Guess I was surprised the BATFE considered this a non-secure thus exempt support. 

No reason it wouldn't improve the stability thus consistency of your shooting.

Neat, but I would not want to have to argue it's legality to an over-enthusiastic G-man.

It sure looks interesting, but I'm not sure if it's worth what the seller asks for it. Also saw it on gunbroker for more than 500 USD. If it could withstand the recoil of the 454 I might have considered it, but the smallest FA I own is a .45 Colt.

Im a hunter, not a collector.  While it is very unique and likely few of them, for $500 I'd simply look at it and smile, then keep right on looking for something I could really  use.  Like you, I don't shoot any of the lighter calibers it was designed for.
