Left Hand M595
« on: April 01, 2010, 06:11:16 PM »
I have a chance to buy a left hand M595 Tikka 223 from a friend of mine. Believe it says whitetail hunter on the box, wood stock and matte blue finish. The gun looks perfect, exceptional grain in the stock, not a mark on it. I've actually shot this gun a few times when we've gone to the range , as expected, it shoots great. There is not a lot of information available about M595 Tikkas, it appears they were replaced by the T3. Plastic clip and trigger guard, not my favorite. Round count is about 200 rounds. Asking $600, but probably negotiable. Looking for your opinions, good or bad, and whats a fair price?    newby

Check gunbroker for pricing.  I suspect it is fair but not cheap.  Walnut and left-handed, help the value.

Grab the rifle while you can and never look back. You will not regret it.

I have one - first real accurate rifle I got.  I like the 595/695 better than the T3 as they have the short chamber - the T3 uses standard long chamber for all calibers.

Picked up a used (like new) 595 blue with synthetic stock with VX1 Leupold on it for $600 in .308 - my other favorite caliber.  So, if yours has a scope it is decent price - w/o a little high but still a great rifle to have.

My .223 loves Black Hills Blue Box (factory reloads) - I also handload but have a tough time doing better than the BH.  Forget anything heavier than 55gr with the 1:12 twist.

I'm always on the lookout for 595/695 when I visit shops - would love one in 6.5.

So.. like Jake said "you will not regret it."

Thanks for your input. I did not buy the gun. Stopped by his home with cash in hand, but I could see it in his eyes. He didn't really want to sell. We have been friends for thirty years I could tell right away. So I'm going to see what the gun shows have. Can anybody tell me about M595/695 Tikkas, are they still making them?  Thanks for any help.  lnewby

I don't think Tikka makes the 595 series any more.  You can find them in the used racks.  I picked one up in .338 WM, blue with walnut last fall for $450.  You just have to keep your eye out for them.
