New Projects!!!!
« on: April 23, 2010, 07:16:30 AM »
Over the weekend I went to an auction sale. I usually don't have great luck buying guns at auctions but I did well this time. The auctioneer indicated he didn't know what the gun was but described a 22-32 Hand Ejector or Bierkert model S&W. It turned out he was right, he didn't know what it was. It was a M17 K22 6" barrel and badly abused. They sold it as is for parts. Mainspring missing, pitting on the barrel, bore a rats nest and the cylinder latch button gone and the bolt stud it fits over beaten almost to death. Dents in the grips (otherwise good condition early magna style) and damage to the recoil shield where some miscreant tried to pry it open:-(... I got it for $95.. I disassembled it yyesterday and it needs a mainspring, cylinder release bolt(with nut and button) and a good cleaning... All else seems present and functioning well... Serial puts manufacture in 1948(3rd year of M17 manufacture). Parts are easy and it will be reserected soon!   My second buy was a Lefever single barrel trap gun. A 12 bore with a 30 inch barrel it was in pretty good condition with only a tiny bit of surface rust and should clean nicely but is missing the extractor with its shank.. If anyone knows where I might locate one I'd be grateful. I';; check the normal places but don't I'll find one at GunParts.. I'm a happy camper today and when I get the K22 together I try the picture thing..

I like projects---I often take on projects that are unressurectable though.
