Sorry, That was not very nice of me ;D
I just woke up in that kind of mood this morning ::)

Here are some more pictures and a few details.
I built her about 10 years ago while employed at Amber Steel.
They provided most of the steel and the use of the equipment.
That is where she got her name.

She is a purpose built vehicle for hunting and the recovery
of downed critters, mainly Elk.
I have lost count but in the neighborhood of 2 dozen Elk
have been hauled out of some pretty tough country saving allot of back pain.

I live by the rule of keep it simple stupid so she was built on the proven
Chevy frame from the 70"s with the Chevy 350 power plant, Granny
4speed and 205 transfer case.
The rear diff is a HO72 (? been a couple years) with a Lincoln locker
and a Dana 44 up front with a Lock Rite, both with 3/4 ton components.
The suspension is the stock 1/2 ton springs with one leaf removed and some custom parts thrown in to obtain a really comfy ride.
She will pretty much go anywhere if I can get threw the trees
Any way here are a few more pictures.

Mike

Sorry :( had a heck of a time with Photobucket tonight >:(

Winch is movable to the front bumper, rear bumper or the roll cage where the gun rack is

A couple of odd ball Elk Nubs for shifter knobs

If you'd dump photobucket and go to www.myhostedpics.com like we've been trying to get folks to do such problems would go away.

Gamehauler,

Thanks for posting the pics of Amber. An interesting rig to say the least. I can see how it would make a decent hunting vehicle out there in Arizona where rain and cold weather doesn't factor in too highly, but here in Wisconsin, I'm thinking you'd have to add an enclosed cab, windshield wipers, and a heater.

All of those items have been considered
and may get around to it some day ;)

I like it, but where does the Elk ride?  Larry

A whole mature Bull will fit in the back.
You would be surprised how much they fold.

Yes, usually have a leg or some horns sticking out.
