12 ga. survivor!

Hey guys,

I bought a 12 gauge Survivor off a fella in Ontario that will be shipping it's way to me shortly.

I have no experience with the Survivor shotguns, but I assume they kick like a mule. What slip-on recoil pad works best for them?

How do people that have these shotguns like them?

What works best is replacing it with a standard synthetic stock. See my avatar.

I dont have a survivor, but on my wood stocked 12 gauge I filled the stock up with lead shot. It tames down buck shot to a dull roar. I may also add a pad but for now I can live with it. I just shot 20, 3" 00 buck shells today. Before 2 or 3 would have you holding your shoulder.

I would definately get a recoil pad for it, a slip on limbsaver perhaps. My other option would be to restock it with a plain pw stock and recoil pad. The Handys in 12ga can kick pretty good,with a hollow survivor stock, which realy doesn't fit anyone very well, The felt recoil will be worse.Especialy with slugs or buckshot.

I had one of those many years ago.  Shooting 3" buckshot was torture.  All I could ever do with the gun is to shoot it & hang on.  A 20" gauge would be just about right for this kind of gun though.

I happen to love Survivor stocks. Feel the straight up pistol grip helps.

Get a PAST recoil pad.

Get shooting gloves.

Shoot standing up.

Wear double ear protection.

Wear a jacket.

Start shooting dove loads, shoot a lot, work your way up.

You will get used to it.
