A couple of buddies and I went out to the jettys to see how bad the wind was and try to catch some big red drum.
I have not been taking the camera on my charters this season yet, so this was a good opportunity to get some pic's.

Well, we had to work at it before sunset and ended up with three fish in about two hours.
Nothing to brag about, but we did catch a few........(The wind was pretty bad)

Largest fish was 41"

They are VERY good to eat!
We have a slot limit of 15" to 23". If its over 23" or under 15" we have to release them. And that's a good thing.

They dont reproduce until they are five years old. (About 23"-27")

The red-fish is one fish I am really wanting to go south to catch!!  We don't get them up here in CT. I hear they are quite similar to Stripped Bass. I catch allot of them!!

Thanks for posting the pics!!

Trust me,,,the fight is a LOT harder than a striper.

Even on 30 lb tackle with a 48" fish like this!

I'll have to take your word for that as I said I haven't caught a red... yet!!  ;)

But I know a big cow can put up a fight...

The first pic was our biggest last season@ 55#. The second upper fourtys and the last one 35#. The last pic is on the fish in the second pic.

 Very Nice fish!

I have caught plenty of stripers, and there first run is impressive, but the red drum fight is very hard until the end. They will have four to five good hard runs before you can get them to the boat.

Sounds like you need to put the Giant Red Drum on your "Bucket List"
