MOVIE - DEATH HUNT
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:29:03 PM »
Today I watched the Charles Bronson movie Death Hunt. I liked the Model 99 Savage he used. I wonder if those doing the movie had a caliber in mind for that rifle?

These are all vague memories, but I think the movie was based on an actual event. I think I read a book about that event and the book said his Savage was a 303 Savage.

I seem to remember the Savage 99 in the movie was in 30-30, and I also remember reading about the actual subject of the film using a Savage 30-30 rifle.  The movie wasn't very historically accurate, but the guns used in the film were period correct as far as I know.

I'm a little dissapointed. I was thinking it might have been a .300 Savage or a .250/3000.

Just a little more info on this. I thought I had a copy of the book in my library and I did. It's titled " the blue parka man" and it states in the book his rifle was a savage 99 in 30-30.

The events all took place near Fairbanks ,AK. Except he was sent out to serve some of his time. So the movie is not historically accurate as someone already said.
