Finally found a 357!
« on: April 23, 2010, 03:55:18 PM »
and its already cut and maxed to boot!  I can't wait to get it!  Been looking for one for a while.  It's amazing what a want ad at the right time in the right place does.  Thanks for a place where this can happen.  What cast loads are you guys shooting out of your maxi's?  I'm looking for a heavy load for it.

Thanks,
Matt

I just bought one as well, un-maxed. Gonna be a deer gun for my ten year old daughter.

The .357 Mag Handi is possibly THE most 'fun' and 'practical' rifle one could have. I've had a half dozen or so Handis and the .357 was definately THE find. However I also just got "T/C Contender fever" again and don't care to have more guns around than I can or do USE. So the Handi is now on it's way to a poster here.
I was VERY tempted to cut and thread the barrel for a suppressor, but the expense was prohibitive, at least for now. Silenced weapons are not 'legal' for hunting in Georgia. I own my own exterminating business and possibly could have gotten a special permit, but just didn't for now.
I am enjoying a 22LR suppressor on several 22s I have [TAC 65].
Anyway if you have a .357 Mag Handi and drawers full of .38 Spl/Mag ammo, you can have a LOT of fun.

I have a 14" .357 Maximum barrel for my G2 Contender and a bull rifle barrel might just be needed to help contend [no pun intended] with the loss of the Handi. I know the new owner of the Handi will enjoy it to the max...uh...again, no pun intended.
Reaming to Max is simple. I had a .357 Mag before and reamed it. THIS Handi was such a good shooter that I never got around to running the reamer into it.

Got mine. It's an SB2 in excellent condition and has camo laminate straight stocks with the NEF medallion. I can't wait to get some ammo and a scope on it.(I may not let my daughter have it. ;D)

It's a fun tool for using all the .38 Spl and .357 Mag ammo you may have accumulated. I took your Handi to the range ONE time and tried a few .38 and .357 ammo I had, and still have. I guess I shot it maybe 25 shots total.
I've still got a lot of pistol ammo for my new .357 Max Contender barrel. Thought about ordering a .38 Spl bull rifle barrel for my G2 Contender.

I could tell it hasn't been shot much. Very pleased with it, and I can't wait to get it shooting. The .38 ammo sounds like lots of fun, and very easy recoil for my daughter to practice with. ;D Thought about maxing it, but I don't reload and I can't find any max ammo local. My daughter will use it for deer, and it should be good out to 100 without maxing it. In our thick woods we won't be shooting much past 50yds. or so anyway, 75 max.

Hopefully, I'll have it shooting by the weekend. ;D

I went and picked mine up last night from my FFL.  It looks great.  I can't wait to shoot it.  But unfortunately the range closest to me is closed for dirt work, I wont be able to go back home for another 2 weeks and I have projects and finals that are keeping me too busy to even look at it, let alone do any reloading for it.  So weather permitting I will shoot it in about 2 weeks.  I did take some time last night to move the scope back to fit me and checked the mounts.  So now all I need is time.  Anyone have some they could loan me?

Matt
