Failure to fire with CCI 450 primers

I finally got my .357 Max barrel back and set up my gun. I have been loading a few different rounds and I have had 4 out of 10 failure to fire on the shells with CCI450 Magnum primers. 2 of those went off on the second try and the other 2 never would fire. They all have a decent indent which looks identical to all the fired rounds so I don't think it is a light hammer strike. All my shells (40) that had the Rem 7 1/2 sr primers fired without a problem so I will stick with them. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem with the CCI 450 primers.
BTW, the gun is shooting 1 1/2" groups at 50 with XTP 180 gr and SSP 180 gr with 22.5 gr 4227 at about 2050  fps. I am waiting for some 1680 to come in at the end of this week and will try some loads with that to see if it will tighten up the groups a bit.

If you haven't yet, replace the hammer spring with a Wolff extra power spring(single coil for a modern frame) from Wolff or Midway and check pin protrusion, .050"-.060" should work. With that combo I have no problems with CCI 250 mag primers which are even thicker than the 450.

I had the exact opposite problem! My .223 handi shoots fine with cci primers. Bought a 45-70 barrel for this frame and it shot fine with cci primers. Ran out of cci for the 45-70 and had to buy rem. primers. Have had many no-fires with the rem. primers. Some fired on the second try and one would not fire at all. By the way, rem. told me DO NOT try to fire again after a mis-fire!!! A non fire alters the primer mixture!! Went back to cci for the 45-70 and no problems so far. I'm told that rem. primers are the hardest of all primers, with cci being next in line??

Misfires with Rem primers as well as their ammo are known issues, lots of posts on them. I've had the biggest problem with Rem and just recently Fed 210M specifically in the 260 Rem Superlight(rebored 243SL) which has a slightly off center pin strike which may or may not account for the problem, CCI 250s work fine. On the contrary, CCIs have been reported to have harder primer cups, the Calhoon link shows all LR primers have the same cup thickness, SR primer cups vary quite a bit by mfr.
