Great .22 test on 6mmbr.com

http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2010/04/22-lr-ammunition-accuracy-55-types-tested/

They tested 55 types of .22 LR ammo.

Fired 5, 5-shot groups and 50, 75 and 100 yards.

What this chart tells me is that with a VERY accurate rifle, even cheap ammo can shoot really nice groups.  It also shows a distinct bias towards Eley and Lapua at all three ranges.  Those two manufacturers occupied almost all of the top spots for average group size at all three distances.  Of course this was ONE rifle for one test but...

I think that is the largest variety of ammo I have ever seen fired in a "test".  What would have been REALLY interesting to most hunters and shooters would have been a second rifle of standard "hunting" or "plinking" configuration in addition to the match rifle.  Would be interesting to see a 10-22 target model or something like that tested too.

Interesting how well Federal American Eagle did across the board, and CCI standard. Yeah it would have been neat to compare an everyday gun but in this case I'd guess they were trying to compare ammo not the gun. I'd venture to guess that another high end gun might show different preferences as well.

Here some groups with Fed 555 and Fed Automatch. These 5 shot groups were shot with my Marlin 2000L at 100yds.
I won't win any matches but they are good enough for PDs. Orange circles are 2".
