MGM barrels
« on: April 16, 2010, 05:17:36 PM »
Match Grade Machine makes barrels for Encores and Contenders.
They may have the worst quality control and they do have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.
On February 20th I ordered a 30-06 barrel for my encore that was in stock. I received an email it had shipped.
It was marked “30-06” and I tried in on my Encore. Since it was 27 inches and I wanted a 16.5 inch barrel I sent it to Wilson Combat (my local gunsmith) and told them to cut the barrel. On the 11th of March I got an email from Wilson Combat there was a problem.
The gunsmith said it was NOT a 30-06 but a 25-06.
I called MGM and they said to send it back and they would look at it. MGM sent a UPS  shipping label to Wilson Combat to have it sent from WC straight back to MGM.
On 30 March I emailed MGM and asked them the status of the barrel. They replied that they received it on 19 March but didn’t know who it belonged to (yeh right). MGM said “We will rebuild it and ship it by Friday (which would have been 2 April). I called them  on Thursday the 1st and they said “Oh, we meant next Friday (meaning April 9nd).
Well I called again today and the receptionist said “I think it shipped yesterday (15 April) and I’ll send you tracking number."
I still don’t have the tracking number.
So, Buyer Beware when dealing with MGM.

Not sure what is going on with them, I have 6 of their Encore barrels (pistol & rifle) and one other rifle barrel and they have always been shipped when they said or earlier. Most people I know haven't had any problem with them at all. The barrels I have from them will shoot as good or better than most other makers. The only one's I have that will out shoot them on a regular basis is my OTT barrels. I guess everyone has problems sometime. I hope they get it straightened out for you.

That is NOT typical for MGM. It has been over a month since your original post, so how about an update?
