rechamber 222 Rem to .223  concerns?  The .223 looks like its about 1/2 inch longer the .222  otherwise, case dimensions are pretty much the same...

I have looked into this for one of my rifles.  A 223 reamer will not clean up a 222 chamber.  You will have to remove the barrel, turn 1/4" off of the breach end, and re-thread the shank before cutting the 223 chamber.  You can buy a lot of 222 cases for the cost of paying someone to do this work.

I re-read your question.  I was considering a re-chambering to 223 Reminigton.  If your new cartridge is 1/2" longer and the case heads are the same it should work.

Case lenth of the .222 is 1.700 and the case lenth of the .223 is 1.760. There is only .060 difference. The reason the .223 has alittle more velocity is because it has a longer case body where the .222 has a longer neck. It can be done with no problem, but there is very little difference in velocity, probly less than 100 fps., so why go to the bother?

Alot would depend on how many rds fired in the 222 and condition of existing throat might want to have the barrel set back.  Standard twist for the 222 is 1/14.  If you have the 1/12 twist 223 go up to 60gr bullets

Both my 222 and 223 have 1/14 twist barrels @ 24" long and with 50gr bullets the 223 is appr 150/200fps faster depending on powders and the 223 has appr 2gr more case capacity.  Well good luck

The .223 has a higher psi loading standard than the .222. If you are going to do it and reload, I would go to a .223 ai.
