recoil pad, mount and  Simmons deer scope - I guess a 3x9. I didn't really examine it in detail, but it looked as new - price was $225. I am thinking this may be a good groundhog/range rifle, but I know NOTHING about the .204 or the Handi's. My knowledge of H&R's is mainly from old top break revolvers.

I think I am going to buy this rifle - it is calling me back to the shop as I type this. (I have been retired 3 years next month and I will buy myself a present for that anniversary...I party for any reason.)

It is NOT a thumbhole stock, but a pretty good shape with a little cheekpiece-it seems like a fun gun to shoot.
I am reading the stickeys right now.
Any thoughts on these?
 Thanks.

I think this is a heavy barrel varmint  model - I saw one online that looks just like it, selling new for $390 or so...May be a better deal than I thought. Will probably check it again tomorrow, bring some cash...

You will like the .204 and with a little forend work and a bench you can easily do 1" MOA.  Mine likes factory Hornady 32gr V-maxs.
Yesterday is history--tomorrow is a mystery--today is a gift!---That is why they call it the present!

Still making up my mind - see, I found this shotgun and used up my available money.
I think I wil trade my sporterized 98 Mauser for the Handi, but I'm still pondering...

It's my understanding, limited as it may be, that to get the full effect of the 204 ruger you need a 22"-23" barrel or better.  If you get a short barrel you probably would be better off with another caliber as it will not perform as expected.  The magic of the 204 is in the velocity and if you get rid of that you might as well look for something else.  IMHO.

l have an ultra in 204 with 24" bull barrel. l'm getting 3800fps with 39gn b/kings. Groups arent that bad for my load development stages. Haven't had a chance to get out to 100m or beyound yet. But they are a lot of fun  ;D
