Uh, oh - NO T/C Custom Shop Barrels For Awhile
« on: June 24, 2010, 09:54:07 AM »
FWIW, it looks like S&W is in one way or another putting the squeeze on the T/C Custom Shop, aka Fox River Outfitters.

Is it a corporate "restructuring"   ;) , or is S&W using the facility for their barrels ?   Time will tell.

Per the T/C "custom shop" area of the T/C site:

"Due to our restructuring of the T/C Custom Shop we are temporarily halting our custom shop barrel process so that we can evaluate and improve it. We are currently focusing on completing only those barrel orders that are underway, and we are not accepting new barrel orders at this time. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

We are excited about improving our customer order process and creating a system that will provide you with better service and will greatly reduce the delivery time frame for custom orders. We look forward to reopening the Custom Shop later in 2010, and sincerely hope that you will place your Custom Shop order at that time."

I guess that's good news for Bullberry, MGM, SKS and others.  At least for the short term.

Glad I got my 357 Max Custom Shop barrel when I did, about a month ago.

I guess the price of a used custom shop barrel will go way up now as they are no longer being made.

several of the custom barrel makers buys parts form the custom shop, how will this effect them?

I am very concerned over the future of Thompson-Center.  Thw factory chamberings have dwindled over the years.
