Cheek piece
« on: May 10, 2010, 04:57:14 PM »
Is there a good cheek piece that can be attached to a Handi-Rifle with the low stock (30-30 with iron sights), that would raise it to the level of the Monte Carlo type stocks, which are more suitable for barrels with scopes?

Get an elastic or neoprene shell holder and put some pieces cut from a foam sleeping bag pad under it.
In the FAQ's there is one a guy made from some plastic pipe.

The one from Brownells works great.  They come in varying thickness so you may want to do a mock up to see what thickness you need before ordering.  Be sure the stock is completely oil/wax free before attaching.   Have fun!

You can make some with computer mouse pads as the material. Cut the shape you want, stack for height, etc., but when you glue them on start with the bottom piece (use silicone seal or such 'removable' adhesive) and build it up as you go or the pieces wont comform to the stock same well.
It will give you an idea or work until you find something better.
