Anyone tried the 300 grain Lee .45 mould? Great article somewhere on the boards about heavy bullets with H110 and Lil'Gun. Running these big boys from 900 -1200 fps.
Thought I would try this and wondered about the Lee mould.
Thanks.

I have killed deer and boar with it. It kills extremely well.

I've got one and water-quench wheel weights from it. I use Blue Dot--don't recall the exact charge, offhand. It shoots really well, but the rounds fit kinda tight in my Blackhawk if I don't pay attention to seating depth.

That Lee mould works great for me. It casts at ~310 gr when I use straight wheelweights. It shoots great too. My load is 13.5 gr of 2400, which really isn't that hot but I've shot them with 17.5 grs and they still work great. I found out that they shoot better if I don't water quench them and use a gas check.

I want to be sure I understand your statement. Do you mean they shoot better if you use a gas check and don't quench, or you don't quench and you don't use a check?

I don't water quench, and I DO use the gas check.

it should be a wicked deer or black bear bullet but I just never found a combination that shot that well out of my .45s about 2 1/2 at 25 yards is the best ive done
