98 trigger

I installed a Bold Optima trigger with side safety on my 1936 Radom 98 Mauser. The trigger is great but takes a little work to get it in. There are three things that have to be ground down for a fit. The stock has to be wider for the side safety, the bolt shroud has to be ground a hair to slide past the safety, and the top of the trigger plate noched out for the Bold trigger to fit. I used a Dremel for all. Now off to the range.

For the money they are a pretty good trigger. I have installed a few and everyone was different. I have never had to grind on a bolt shroud though. I have had to shim between the trigger and the back tang on one. The others I have never had to remove metal from anyplace. You do have to do stock work to get things to fit though.

bold triggers are great. i did one on a '93 mauser last night and had to do everything you mentioned except the shroud.

I have used Bolds and Timneys before and they are both great improvements over the mil-spec triggers.  I have used Bolds with safety on 98s and 96s and the improvements were fabulous.  I have ued timneys on M1917s and the resutls were the same - very noticeable improvements.
