Heads-Up
« on: May 15, 2010, 08:05:28 AM »
For anybody who is interested, the Hornady concentricity tools are now back in stock at various suppliers.  I just got mine from MidSouth for $94, but I see that Wholesale Hunter has them for, IIRC, $90 and Manventure has a limited supply for $88.  All of these prices are significantly below MSRP.  Have not used it yet, but from what I have read, it is a great tool for pursuing accurate handloads.

Congrats, Love mine, had it for a couple months now, works great.  ;)  First time I used it was on Rem factory 260 ammo just for fun, all was well until I found one that had .006" runout which I corrected, lets ya know what can cause those flyers!!  I spot check all of my handloads now, if I find one with over .003" runout, I start checking why, so far it's been caused by the seater stem not fitting the ogive on the bullet, 6.5 Berger VLD bullets in the Hornady seater die for example. Another reason is forgetting to rotate the cartridge 180º after first partially seating the bullet, then seating it to the final depth.  ::)

Tim - yeah, I go slow when seating - bumping the cartridge around until I come full circle and fully seated.  It helps a lot - but now I will know for sure if something has gone wrong.  I kept looking for the Hornady tool at a decent price for months.  Hornady seems finally to have produced a bunch more.
