Hello- I am planning a prairie dog trip out into ND this spring, can anyone tell me when they might be active up that far north? Thank you, thejanitor

I am pretty sure they are getting active right now . They do not really hibernate and they have litters going all the time. If you are hunting public land check with ND DNR on seasons and such I don't hunt ND but in SD the public lands don't open for PD til June 15th private lands sre open yr round in SD. If you are hunting private land give the landowner a call but for the most part this time of yr if it's sunny and warm they should be up even high sun and cold and you will get shooting. Kurt

In South Dakota the first weekend in June is usually great. The little ones are coming out and are alot of fun to shoot. Doubles are common, even a triple once in awhile.

Thanks every one. I wanted to go in a few weeks but that may get pushed back a little. Or a lot depending on gas & room funds. And if we wait a little we may be able to camp and save some there too. But have the kids excited to go so need to pick a date and see how it goes.
Take care, thejanitor
