Well, out to that range, you can load up dozens of rounds that will do the job for you. With handloads, deer are just as dead from the 7x30 as from anything else at 200 yards. As far as the 30-40, do your research. The camp is divided on that one. Might be safe, but it is pushing the limits as far as pressure. Don't put hot loads in that one! The wildcats are good rounds and I've owned one or 2 myself, but look at your ballistics realistically before you make a decision. Is it worth all of the extra cost associated with a wildcat when you can still kill a deer at the same range with something less exotic? Look at the real trajectory of these things at the ranges you are talking about. Can the wildcats gain you more than an inch or 2 at 200 yards? Especially if you are handloading? Just some things to consider. My vote would be either a 7x30 or 3030AI just due to the cost vs. what your requirements are. Keep in mind, we're talking deer here. If you go to bigger game, that changes the answer.
