Do You Carry Your FA with 4 or 5??

Hello all,

I know about the safety concerns but am just wondering what everyone here does.  I tend to carry my revolvers on an empty cylinder even if they have a trasfer bar.  Doubt I will ever change but just asking the question.  Does it depend if it's a 97 or 83?

Four in an 83, with an empty chamber under the hammer. Full cylinder in a 97.

Five in my six shot model 97 .357. The owner's manual says that's the way to go. Load one, skip one, load four.

Is the Model 97 357 a six shot?  I was under the assumption that they were all 5 shots.  I guess I shouldn't assume.

Yes, it is. I think only the .357 and .22lr model 97s are six shots. Not sure about the smaller caliber 83s.

All 83's have 5 holes in the cylinder. In the 97, the .17 and .22 rimfires, .32's, 9 mm- .38-.357's and .224/ 327 have 6.
