anybody ever try the 5D-GR williams peep sight on a bolt action rifle? how  did it turn out?

I don't care for the way those, and the nearly identical FoolProof clip-on, hang out/off the side of the action, much preferring the smaller/neater top-mount WGRS-54 clip-on.

Even though the WGRS-54 may require a taller front sight (because it's a tad taller than a 5D/FP), I usually change the front sight out anyway when I peep a rifle for another with an Ivory or fibre-optic bead -  why not a taller one at the same time, too ?

YMMV, though.

thanks for the reply. i like the wgrs too but it won't slide onto the rem model 5. is the clip-on part secure for the 5d?

FWIW, The WGRS54 won't fit a lot of .22 rimfire grooves, because as it's moniker indicates, it's made for an Annie Model 54, which has narrower European grooves (11mm ?) than US rifles.

A few minutes work with a small file, on the inside/bottom of the sight's dovetail gripping edges will have it fit just fine.
