ruger blackhawk 41 mag question

i got a new to me 41 mag and i get a stuck case in the cylinder. i got this ruger knowingly but thought that i could just polish the hole up a little. i think it has'nt been reamed completely because the primer has been flattened. has anyone else come across this in a ruger revolver? thanks

I'm not sure if I've got your story straight here:  You BOUGHT the Blackhawk with a cartridge stuck in the cylinder?  OR  You bought it knowing there was some damage to one of the chambers??

Cases can and will stick in a chamber if there is a gouge or scratch in the inside wall of the chamber.  Generally, the brass will flow into the void upon firing and the become stuck.  It seems to me that polishing it enough to remove the scratch will widen the chamber and you don't want to do that.  However, if there is a sharp edge to the scratch, then perhaps smoothing the scratch a little will make cartridge removal easier. 

As for your flattened primer, generally, that's just a sign of hot loads with too much pressure.  Your mentioning of the primer is where I'm lost and get the idea that you bought the revolver with a cartridge stuck in it.    Please further explain your situation.  It may get you better feedback and assistance with your problem.

i bought it knowing there was something wrong with one of the chambers. thought it was just a burr, but am now wondering if it was not correctly reamed?

This sounds like a the chamber was bored/sized incorrectly.  If it has not been altered by someone since it left the Ruger factory I am sure they would stand behind their product and correct this problem.  You should cotact them and ask for a shipping voucher and get it covered by them.  Good luck and hope you get this ironed out.

i am the second owner, it had only 24 rounds down the barrel when i got it. it had a trigger job done to it before i got it. would that keep them from fixing it?

The second owner will not stop them.
If they decide the trigger has been reworked they will install new parts and return the old ones at your request

This is the reason that it pays to be very picky when buying used handguns, particularly used magnum revolvers. People usually dont get rid of them unless there is something wrong or they cant afford to keep them. The something wrong is frequently an improperly reloaded cartridge, possibly having damaged the gun. These people dont want to pay the price of repairing or junking their mistake.

Send the gun back to Ruger. They will fix the gun (and probably charge you for it) or junk it and give you a discount on a new gun. This will not be a total loss, but it will likely cost you more money than buying a factory new gun.
