Well guys I have 2 comfirmed kills with my new Remington 22-250 SPS Varmint. I got one a couple weeks ago with it and one today at about 250 yards. It was a heart shot that went through and through. He was dead right there for sure. :o ;D I ended up putting a Vortex Viper 6.5x20x44 scope on it. I got a great deal on it from a site sponser Camera Land. It really is a very nice scope for the money. I will start reloading for this new rifle this week with the 50 grain V-Max Mlooy coated bullets. My total of Groundhog kills this year only total 3 so far but I have a couple new farms to hunt so I expect the numbers to grow. Here are a few pictures of the new set up. Take care Dale

:D Nice outfit, I am a wood stock man myself, but plastic is the way of the future....glad you are getting some shooting....I also shot one Pa. chuck this year...after visiting and doing some turkey hunting, my girl friend's grandson and I were shooting pigeons and startings around their old barn....my golden grabbed a huge chuck that was hiding in deep weeds...since it stood its ground, I didn't want her chewed up so my old 870 12 with a pigeon load of 3 1/4-1 1/4 -7's, took the chuck in the head.....it will probably be my only Pa. chuck kill this season...and I would not have shot her except for the situation...did get a rockchuck yesterday in Wy. with my Ruger .45 Colt and a 250 grain XTP......Impressed me and the chuck....good shooting....

Boy now that is one heck of a chuck bullet!!!!!!!! :o ;D My neighbor and I went to the range yesterday and he brought along the Taurus Judge that shoots the 45 and the 410 shotgun shells. I think he was shooting the same bullet. I told him that 250 grain bullet will put anything down for good. ;D Dale

I got another one this evening. This makes number 4 for this year and 3 with this rifle. He was only about 100 yards and I took the top of his head off. :o ;D That 50 grain V-Max sure does some damage. Here are a couple pictures of him. Take care Dale

Very cool a double. ;D I was out in that field I do not hunt anymore a couple years ago when I thought I was shooting prarie dogs instead of Groundhogs. I popped 2 very close together with in a little less than 200 yards. Then I turned around and popped another at maybe 150 yards or so. That ties my most in a day of 3 in one day. The other three I got were on 3 different farms. Dale

I took my 7th, 8th, and 9th Groundhog of the season this afternoon.
I went out to one of the new farms I am allowed to hunt this after noon. I sat there a little over an hour before I saw anything at all. Then this guy pops up out of his hole. That would be the top picture. Well after I shot him another one popped up out of his hole and he was so close I could not even get my scope to focus on him. He was just a big blur in the scope so I held the cross hairs center mass and pulled the trigger. I missed him I think the bullet went right over his head. :o I never shot at a Groundhog that close. He went back in his hole so I figured I would wait him out and hope he pops back out. I also decided to move the truck further away so when he did come back out I could at least focus the scope on him. While moving the truck there were 2 little ones that popped their heads up out of their hole that they were sharing. I parked the truck between the 2 holes so I could watch both and shoot witch ever popped up first. Well those 2 little ones popped their heads up first and I trained the cross hairs on them and would have had a double with one shot because they were perfectly lined up. I pulled the trigger and the gun went click. I forgot when I moved the truck I closed the bolt with out chambering a round. So by the time I did chamber a round they were no longer lined up so I just picked the one on the right and shot him. The other one disapeared down the hole so I waited for about 3 or 4 minutes and sure enough he popped his head out to have a look at what had happened. I pulled the trigger on him as well. I shot at 4 different Groundhogs in 20 or 25 minutes and got 3 of them. That ties my personal best day of 3 in a day. ;D I still have to make it back there tomorrow to get the one I missed. I have taken 5 out of that one field in the last week or so. ;D Well enjoy the pictures and take care Dale

I took number 11, 12 and 13 tonight just before dark. The first one was at 350 yards, the second one was at 275 yards and the 3rd one was at 225 yards. They just cut this huge field and expect to take several more out of there. I missed a 4th one tonight in another field on the way home from the huge field. He was only about 150 yards or so I just plain pulled the shot and then he ran to his hole. I will try to get him tomorrow. This is like the 3rd time I have taken 3 in one day. I just can't seam to braek that record and get that 4th one in a day. :o :( Well take care Dale
