Gun Shop Rifle Racks Are Full Again
« on: May 16, 2010, 04:38:56 AM »
I don't get to my local gun dealer too much anymore. I have been doing most of my gun shopping online and buying them through my local dealer. I haven't seen so many Handi rifles or even guns in general available for sale since Obama got elected. Just six months ago you would be lucky to find one 45/70, now I have a choice of several models. Even hard to find 30-30s and .357s are plentiful. The variety of Handi rifles for sale right now is fantastic.

I don't worry about the guns, its the bullets they want. We are getting some ammo in up here but none of the fancy stuff. The shop got in two boxes of Remington 405gr 45/70 and I snagged both as they were putting them on the shelf

I think the  manufactures did not see the run on supplies coming after the election.  Just like right after 9-11.  My son works at a very large gun shop and rifle range and both times he said it was a little scary the way people were acting in the store.  A shortage is also a great way to increase prices.   I have some older reloading supplies on the bench and when I see what the cost is to replace them gets my goat.

Russian .223 is almost cheap enough ($210 delivered per 1k) to make me interested in ARs. Palin says Obama is after the guns and ammo again. Should be fun to see the price run up again in about 14 months.

The gun racks are well stocked here too, now, if I could just find some large rifle primers...

Gander MTN Bemidji MN had Thousands of Win and CCI LG rifle last week, I bought some CCI even though they were 3.99 pr hundred because I found some. Couldn't find them anywhere else, and Gander is usually the last place I go for reloading because of price. But I won't kick anymore because they at least had them.

Sorry folks, but never could understand all the paranoia after the election. It seems like many thought that Obama could just wave a magic wand and all guns and ammo would be gone. It would take many more steps, time and rulings to even come close.

What Palin says and the actual truth very seldom are the same....Haven't seen anything that Obama has done or said to try to do anything with our guns or ammo....I think he knows better

Guzzijohn, He doesnt have to come for them himself, hillary signed the u.n. small arms treaty last week. The u.n. will do It for him. He didnt even have to fight the senate or listen to the peons complain about it. Done in the open, with the media ignoring it, nobody even knew. Pretty slick huh?

It would still require a constitutional change.

Amen to that.  In fact, some of the bills he's signed were actually pro-gun, albeit attachments to other bills.  At least he didn't feel strongly anti-gun enough not to sign them.  There's some argument to support that he's actually pro-gun.

Bullseye! I finally went to my last resort, the Gander Mountain in Onalaska, WI, and found some CCI LR primers for $3.99/100. Now I can start loading loading some light 30-30 loads, just as soon a Magnus Bullets sends me some nice little cast pells.
Thanks.

I'm starting to wonder if this run on components and guns will be the new norm for every election. Certain ammo is still hard to find and it surprises me that it's cartridges like the .380 acp and .32 acp. I always thought those were made for guns that are carried a lot and shot a little.

I think you are right, but a lot of people were buying those type of guns and naturally wanted ammo for them. They were buying the guns with no ammo, so they were looking for it any where they could. It caught the ammo makers flat footed and they still have not recovered all the way yet, but are getting there. Just my theory.
