Eagle One Never-Dull for case polishing
« on: May 19, 2010, 10:02:06 AM »
I have been experimenting lately with different ways to clean/polish cases as I dont have a tumbler. I found this automotive product called Never-dull, its in a tin can and inside is a chemical impregranted wadding material. You just pinch off a bit of the wadding, and rub it on the metal. The packaging recommends using it on brass. I can't find anything about ammonia on it, which is good. The chemical has just a general oily/slovent type smell. To get a mirror/like new finish, chuck the case in a drill in a lee trimmer, polish first with some fine steel wool, then hit it with the never dull. Finish by spinning the case in a clean rag to remove residue.

Anyway, anyone else every try this? I've been getting good results, just a little concerned that the chemical might be bad for the brass (like ammonia is). Your thoughts welcome.

Never Dull is harmless.

I've been reloading for a looong time.   Bought one of the first vib tumblers on the market, a Lyman 1200, so long ago I don't remember when - thirty years?  Use it to clean my cases, untreated walnut or cob does great.  Never understood the obsession with "polishing" cases to glitter.  ??   Maybe it's a generational thing.  ??

Like wncchester, I still use my ole vib tumbler.  The hard walnut to clean off the dirt and smut, and the corn cob with a little polish added to shine the brass.   That usually satisfies me for reloading ammo.

I have chucked a few special rifle brass in my hand drill and polished them with my wifes metal polish
 'M A A S' she gets from WalGreens.  Does a great job too.  :D

Been using it since boot camp in 81 , love the stuff , it does a great job of making the case's look new - now days I just toss some in the tumbler ( no black fingers that way  ;D )

I think the whole polishing your cases thing comes from wanting to take pride in your work.  Sorta like shining your dress shoes in the military.

In my case, my brass has just gotten so bad that it really need a good shine.
