Howdy ya'll.

I've got a sks that my Pop left me. He had a 30rd mag that was brand new when he got it but only fed right one time. Now it just feed the left side properly and the right one jams.
Thinking bout buying a 10rd mag but don't know who makes the best ones. I don't really care if it's a removeable one or fixed.
Any help or opinions?
Andrew

But I prefer the 10.  Unless you are fighting terrorists or want to impress someone, I think the fixed Milsurp 10 rd is No 1.  I bought mine with a 30 rd detachable, but try shooting over your hood or prone with one.  The SKS just simply handles better with the shorter mag, in my opinion.  However.....I would never part with the 30 rnd mag.  If we ever need to help with homeland security, it is a good idea to have a few of these.
I don't know who makes them.  Whatever you do...stay away from the cheapo plastic 5 rnd mags.
....make it count

You need to adjust the right side feeder lip in the front.  If the bullet is popping up too early and hitting the reciever instead of the chamber bend the front edge down just a little at a time till it feeds correctly. If it is coming out low in the magazine bend the front edge up so it hits the chamber bore perfectly.   Even some brand new mags need adjusting. On the fixed 10rd and 20rd mags(orginal sks mags) make sure the pusher is in the dead center of the space in the mag or it can throw out loaded rounds when the slide opens to load they just pop out mainly on the last round thats an indication the pusher is out of center in the mag. I've had that problem with the replacement 20rd fixed mag. Well I'm just about magged out thats my mag tip of the week!!           BigBill

Don't be afraid to tweek the mag feeder lips just go slow just read what the bullet is doing it will tell you which way to go.  You need to lube the mags inside often too I do mine with CLP then push the pusher rail up and down to work it in on the detachable 20, 30 and 40 round mags. This goes for sks's and AK's all the large capacity mags need lube they will and can stick sooner or later.

I'v had this problem also, seems like almost all aftermarket mags need adjusting....... My advice.......go back with the original magazine, they will preform the best. You don't want the gun to let you down when you might need it the most. Robert is giving good advice, however, if you want to keep the 30...... read BigBill's post carefully and apply his advice
