Other than an Encore which can be switched over to centerfire if you had to pick and choose only one muzzleloader that you can own what would it be and why? Thanx
Wolfhound is right, of course.
It would be the Knight Elite for several reasons: the tapered barrel, the best trigger on any muzzleloader I've tested, a solid synthetic stock that fits me well and soaks up "heavy load recoil" extremely well, and no fussing with cappers / decappers out in the field.
The overwhelming reason is that it is the most accurate muzzleloader I've ever fired-- and is accurate with many different bullets and loads. It handles 348 and 405 grain powerbelts well, 260 grain Winchester Platinum Tips, and 300 grain .44 /50 Dead Centers all sub-MOA.
With 220 grain .40 / 50 Dead Centers and 100 grains of T 7 FFg loose, it shoots sub-1/2" day in, day out-- with a few 1/4" groups tossed in by blind luck.
There are several extremely accurate muzzleloaders out there I've tried: the Omega, Austin & Halleck 420, and White 98 .451 are all 1-1/4" area or better shooters. BUT, nothing has come close to the Knight Elite yet in the accuracy department. not just with that "one" pet load, but with many.
