Pet .44 Mag light lead cast load?

Anybody have a pet load for a really light low recoil .44 mag/spl load?  My wife will be shooting it from a single shot handi rifle.  Thanks in advance.

Years ago I mistakenly bought some swaged lead dead-soft bullets. I was down to 6gr of 231, they shot well but still leaded the barrel. 9gr of 231 / HP38 or 10gr of Unique should work for cast bullets.

Penn 185 gr. wadcutter, 5 gr. of w-231, these were shot out of a sbh.
If I can do my part w/ good light it will do this for several groups. I have used as little as 3 gr. of w-231 but the groups are a lil larger. Recoil is mild w/ 5 gr. and w/ 3 gr. its really weird.

I run 6 grains of Unique under a 240 grain lead bullet (have used with both LSWC and RNFP) out of my 6.5" 624 (.44 Special) and it's pretty mild.  Never tried it out of a longer barrel.

sbhg, that 185gr Wadcutter load looks great!  I have thought about getting some of those to mess with, guess you talked me into it.

7.5 grains of Unique under 240 -255 grain cast semi-wadcutter. Very mild, my go to plinking round. I get around 950 fps out of my 7 1/2" revolver. It should be in the 1100 fps range out of a rifle.

Not a Special load but a Mag load but has little or no recoil in my Handi.  Load of Trail Boss under 180 gr OT cast bullet.  Might as well shoot a 22.   I don't post  powder level on line but the amount is readily available from makers web page.

I have a 180 grain Hot special load I do in the Mag case with blue dot.
I use a copper washed bullet.  I have done it with lead bullets but they want to back out with out a heavy crimp.  But in a single shot that should not be a problem.  They work great out of my T/C.
I got the load out of the Allient powder catalog.  There was also a green dot load that was a lot smaller in grains to do the same thing but on the bench I could not see the powder in the case, and was afraid of double charging.  If you double charge the Blue dot it spills out.
it launches the rounds about 1,000 FPS.
The copper washed are the practice rounds for the 180 JHP for bowling pins.  Plenty of power to move pins but recoil like a 38SPL.
It will not cycle my Ruger Deerfield 99/44 rifle.
If you replace the 180 grain with a 240 grain bullet it makes it a 1200 FPS load and more than capible of taking deer.

I had great luck with 6 gr. of Bullseye under a 240 gr. bullet, but this is a heavier load than you might want. 4 gr. is recomanded starting load and you could even drop to a 200 gr. bullets.
