new 444

brought home a new 444 today :) i'm happy with it. after seeing some of the quality of marlins on the racks nowadays i was a little relieved when i pulled a pretty nice looking rifle out of the box. nice chunk of wood on it. good fit and finish, now if i can find time to shoot it :(. that's the new one on the right next to my micro groove 444ss, that i put new wood on this spring, on the left. i wanted one with six groove rifling and still stamped "North Haven, CT"

     I have had one for five years and am very happy with it.  I am currently loading 265 gr hornady with good luck and accuracy.  I am getting ready to load cast for it probably between 280 and 300 gr.  I put a williams fire sight and receiver sight on and it works well.  Hope you like yours as much as I do mine.

Congrats on your find!  I brought home a new one yesterday as well.  It's a 1999 that looks like it had sat on the shelf since being made, no marks anywhere except where it leaned against the wood on the barrel.  It joins my 444P and Handi rifle in that caliber.  DP
