Used Encore Questions????
« on: November 24, 2003, 06:17:18 PM »
Ok I have decided to start looking for my first Encore. I think I will try looking for a used Pistol, or just a frame. (Build as I go) I want to build a Varmint handgun first and foremost. (.17 Rem.) And then a deer hunting handgun. Then so on and so forth.

Is there anything I should watch out for? Any parts that might wear out, or could be broken? Anything to check to make sure it is in working order? Any information would be nice. I will be looking at Gun Dealers, and local gun shows.

Thanks,

Just make sure it appears to be in good shape.  Make sure a barrel opens and closes and seems to lock up tight.  Make sure the trigger mechanism works fine and the bore looks good if it has a barrel on it.  The rub marks on the barrel and frame will tell you how much it has been shot, at least with that barrel.  I find that general apperance is a good indicator of how a previous owner took care of his gun.  And lastly, if a used one deos have problems you have T/C's lifetime warranty to fall back on.

TC's Warranty is great and the customer service is extremely helpful.  My first Contender I had the frame hard chromed.  This was an early model.  And a problem developed that the thing would open after every shot. Sent it back to TC and within 2 weeks they sent me a new frame with the same serial number on it.  I was a happy camper.
