I picked this up from a yar sale...
« on: June 06, 2010, 11:50:57 AM »
Today we were at a lot of yard sales and I gotta couple things but one thing I was really interested in was a really old looking flintlock muzzleloading rifle and for only $50 I couldn't resist so I got it he said he didn't know what caliber it is but it looks pretty big to me I would say .50 or maybe even .58 it says made in spain it has the full stock that goes from the butt all the way to the muzzle he never shot it he said the rust proofing was still in the barrel and the front sight is missing does anyone know about the value of guns like this? I figured if I got it for $50 I could sell it for more than that or keep it if it isn't worth a whole lot (I will post up some pics when I figure out how to work the camera  ::) )

Right by the Made in Spain, does it say "Jukar-Made In Spain?"

I don't believe so but it is pretty scuffed up it might have been rubbed off and not visable any more because you can also almost not see the word "in"

The picture on that forum looks a lot like mine but I think the wood on mine is a little darker but it could just be the flash or something. Do you think I can sell this gun more than $50?

A picture would probably sell it to the one who really wants it.

Octogon barrel? Rifled? Shootability?

Based on it's condition, any gun at $50 is a good deal, if you like it. All depends on who wants it.

Site unseen hard to say, no other markings or nothing, bugger, that's a pickle.

there is an octogon barrel, I believe it is rifled from looking in the muzzle,  and he said he has never shot it but he was like in his 80s or so so I dont blame him I will have to have someone check it out to see if it can fire.

$50 is a good deal. I wouldnt pay more than $100 for one though. Theres a .45 flintlock on here in the classifieds and its just hard to sell them.

Made in Spain means that it won't sell for much. It might not sell at all.

My advise is to find out if it's a good shooter. Get it over to a local gunsmith and find out the bore diameter and rifling twist. Then get the necessary accoutrements from Dixie Gun Works catalog to get that weapon operational.

Take it to the range, develop a load. Maybe go on a hunting trip next year.
