« on: June 16, 2010, 04:14:21 AM »
I use rings weaver 4x4 in HIGH I have no problems with 40 MM diameter scope to clear
I like to try a 44MM scope with a  adjustable objective using the same rings will I run into any problems?

What scope rail do you have? They vary in thickness, thus height.
1) Carefully measure from your barrel to the bottom of the scope bell.
2) Measure the real OD of your scope and the proposed scope bells.
3) Subtract yours from it, divide by two, and see if that amount will fit into the space of #1, with clearance, like a matchbook cover or more.

Objective bell size is a moot point usually, power ring and ocular bell size are the interference points, I've mounted several 50mm scopes on Handis with no problems. If you're looking at the Federal Intensity 3-10x44, it'll mount fine in high rings, may mount in medium rings if you position it so the hammer clears the power ring and/or remove the tip of the spur. I have that scope, but haven't used it yet.

About 70 percent of my scopes are 50mm.  On Handis, they're on medium or high rings with no problem.  Trouble shows up not on the objective end, but with Hammer/bell clearance at the other.  Usually, even with medium rings, I can find a suitable eye relief and hammer clearance at the same time.  Red dots and scout mounts eliminate the problem because they sit forward of the hammer.

If ya wanna come over this afternoon, I gotta do one.
