Well I am going in tomorrow morning to have the cataract removed from my left eye, and some time in the future they are to do the right one. That is the one I want done. Hopefully after it is over I will be able to see those sights nice and clear again!

The best of luck to you beerbelly. I just got both mine done in April. I couldn't be happier. I am seeing a whole new world out there. The bonus for me is that after being nearsighted for the last 43 years I got to throw away my contact lenses. I'm reading the chart at 20/20 in both eyes without correction. Still need readers sometimes for up close, but not as often as before. The procedure is a snap but I sure got tired of putting all of those drops in for 30 days after.

Well ,they did the left eye this morning and said everything went well. Of course everything is blury in that eye, but they said it would be much better tomorrow. Yeah, tthose drops are the pitts, I am not good at putting crap in my eyes. But what must be done must be done.

Yeah Beerbelly!
Drops in the eye are the pitts!My eyes are like superspeed automatic camera shutters when I try to put drops in them!
I have had cataracts for sometime now but still see alright except for night driving in rain or snow!
Hope the other eye goes as well.

Hey Curtis,
When you had your done did the sight in that eye clear up right away or did it take a few days? Mine is rather blurry, worse than before. I hope over time it will clear up.

I have had both eyes done--don't recall any bothering blurring, but that was years ago. I think it will come around.
Now---get the other done and enjoy seeing like you did years ago.

Fast question!
Before you guys had your cataract operation did you have any "floater`s" in your eyes? If so did they seem to go away after your sugery?
I have some floater`s and they are usually not much of a problem until I get still and start reading are watching something outside for a awhile.

Beer, the first eye took a few days. The second one was better for some reason. Even the Dr. seemed surprised at the second one as I was reading the eye chart 20/25 the day after surgery on that one. Every day should be an improvement for you, even after a week or so.

Streak, I have had some floaters since I was a pre-teen and as I got older they got denser and more numerous. They are really thick in my left eye. The surgery makes no difference in the number or density of the floaters, but they don't bother me as much now since everything is clearer and easier to focus on past the floaters. From what I have read and been told floaters are very difficult to treat without endangering the retina, so unless they are debilitating we just have to put up with the nuisance I believe.

Thank goodness my floater`s are not a problem, but the cataracts are going to have to be removed probably in a couple years.The left one is the worse. So my shoothing eye is O.K.!

Streak, I'm "only" 50 and I'm actually glad I got cataracts early. I'm seeing better than I have in ten years .........and I didn't even notice I was going blind until last fall. I didn't know what I had lost until I got it back! Now there's a twist!

Well Curtiss I am only a " young" 69 and going on 40!!! I have had these cataracts since I was around 60.
Anyway, I see you shoot a 7TCU! Do you have it scoped?

Streak, sadly the 7TCU and 6TCU are two of my barrels I haven't taken the time yet to develop loads for. Between work on my house, my job, motorcyling, etc.......... well, you get the idea. Just too many interests competing for my time. They're coming I promise! I scope most of my barrels, but since the surgery I may revisit some of my barrels with open sights, especially my octagon .22rf which I have had little time with lately.

I'm partial to the ten inch Contender barrels and the 7 TCU seemed like an efficient cartridge for that barrel length. I have the 7-30 Waters in 14 inch. What are your thoughts on the 7TCU?

Curtiss,
I think the TCU is a nice cartridge and fairly efficient in performance! Making brass from .223 brass is easy and the round is very accurate. Good deer cartridge and mine is a 10" barrel. I have a special scope mount for mine as I was going to use it for silouhette shooting. Still plan to do that before this eyes start to fail me! At present time still have eyes like a hawk!

Best of luck to you. I just had my eye exam and they told me on a scale of 1 to 10 I am about 1 on the scale of cataract problems. Hope I hold out for a while. My mom had it done and it worked out good for her.

Tomorrow will be a week ago it was done and everything is going great! I can see much better out of that eye. Can't wait eor them to do the right one! But it will be a while before they do the other, I understand it will maybe two months.

Glad your vision is improving in the first eye. I'm surprise it will be so long before the next one, mine were two weeks apart. Hopefully they'll get to your other one soon.

I hated the time between surgeries because I still had to wear a contact lens in my left eye for nearsightedness and the images didn't quite match up. Not only was it disconcerting, I was getting mild headaches by the end of the day if I used my eyes a lot.

Once you get both of them done and a few weeks behind you, you'll love it!
