Militec Grease fantastic for breech plugs and 777
« on: November 19, 2003, 01:06:53 PM »
I have tried the teflon tape and the gorilla anti sieze grease when using 777 with my NEF Huntsman both sucked and would sieze up after shooting a few shots using 777. After 10 to 20 shots at the range I would have to tap the breech plug wrench handle with something to break the breech plug lose. I mean Tap like in some good raps on the handle to break things loose. I was sent a sample of the Militec grease and 0il. I thought what the heck the next time I shoot I will try the Militec grease instead on the anti seize grease. WELL WAS I SUPPRISED!!!! The breech plug turned out with no pressure at all just like it had been cleaned and greased with out shooting it. I had shot 20 shots at the range today and the breech plug cane out slicker than snot on a hoe handle.  This is great stuff folks I highly reccomend it for breech plugs on black powder guns expecially shooting 777. Sorry should have posted this earlier. it is at www.militec-1.com They have a spot on the web site where you can ask for a free sample. SO you can try it with out buying a 14 oz tube. Ask for the oil and the grease. Stuff works great. Jim

Got a email back from them they liked my suggestion that it is good for black powder guns and will explore that market. It sounds like they are going to package it in more convenient form for this instead of the grease gun tube it comes in now. Jim

Jim,
Funny thing that you just happen to post this information. While looking at the different news sites I came across the following story.
http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/news/investigators/wabc_investigators_111803gunlube.html

Seems that the gubbermint is killing of our soldiers (still) because they are to damn cheap to switch over from CLP to Militech's products.

Yea I have seen that in the last day or so. It is a shame that the Gov can be so corrupt with their spending and what they spend on. This is just a other example. The stories of 50 dollar hammers and toilet seats have ticked me off for years. When you and I can buy the same for under 10 bucks. All these Gov contractors should be dropped and we should start over. Enough graft and greed. Jim

I tried Militec the other day and found it to be coming out between the breech plug and the barrel after a few shots.  When I got home I had really had to hammer the plug wrench with a rubber mallet to get it to turn.

I reapplied the Militec, but this time I put a little between the face of the breech plug and the face of the barrel and not just on the threads.  Maybe this will make the difference.

Shot my custom barreled  Contender 45x209 today, used Militec, breech plug is frozen.  Will work on it tomorrow, only 10 shots.  The VAN HORN barrel is great, I will just have to figure this problem out.  I really donot see too much harm , if it stays frozen.

Make sure you put grease on all bearing surfaces that is what I do and it does make a difference. Also make sure you use enough grease. Jim

They are fast though they must have one employee just on top of this as I have heard of others getting the samples in 2 to 3 days also. Like I said before the biggest thing is to coat all surfaces that mate metal to metal with a thin coat and put enough on the threads also. I worked good for me that is all I can say. Jim
