New Handi's
« on: June 15, 2010, 07:33:09 AM »
Just thought i'd show my newest handi's. Pic#1 is two handi's i just bought on gun-broker from the same seller. I really couldn't believe i was the only bidder? The bottom one is a 30-30 cal. with an ejecter barrell, and  the top one is a 30.06 with an extracter barrell. Both came with cabelas pine ridge 3-9x40 scopes, and are in very good condition. The price was right and the best part is, being used i won't have to break in the barrells. Pic #6 is all of my handi-rifles. From bottom to top, the 30-30, the 30.06, a 357 mag. reamed to 357 maximum, a 223 with the camo stock, and the extra 45-70 barrell. What's next? Probably a reciever and stock set for the 45-70, but who knows!

Nice family!

Good find on the 2 new additions --- 2 of my favorite calibers for deer and hogs.

Very good.

The .30-30 and .30-06 Handi's are two of the better shooters I've had.

Good snag on the handi's... the 30-30's are hard to find... they really are as good as folks say they are. I've had a 30-30 handi for years now and I won't part with it. I had a 30-06 handi but I thought the recoil was a little stiff for my likin'... that ain't to say the old '06 ain't a good one... it's a great one and you won't find many guys who say otherwise. I'm just kind of a recoil sissy. :D

Spanky, you ain't no sissy.  I don't have a clue as to what causes it, but my Marlin 336 30-30 slaps the heck out of me.  My Handi .30-06 enjoys doing the same........My Handi .45-70 is a pussycat by comparison.  It doesn't add up.  (The 336 is a T..Texan...Straight grip.  Probably accounts for a lot of it.).  I've got to admit, the .45-70 has a weighted stock.

I think the same about the 45-70 Pete... it's enjoyable to shoot them big bullets. The recoil of the '06 just seems sharper and quicker and less fun.
I will say though that the 30-06 is probably the best all around cartridge to ever wear a headstamp.
