7-30 Velocity

Fast enough to drop two does in their tracks at 75 yards :)

Actually it's a great question.  I'd like to know also because even though I do plan to roll my own with this round, these have been very effective hunting loads for me for the past couple of years.

Federal's figures are actually very accurate. Federal makes fantastic ammo, the velocity figures are usually very accurate. I wish I could say the same for Winchester and Remmy.

Last time I used the factory loads, they were doing just over 2,400fps with the 120 grain Federal factory load.

I chronoed my 13" barrel with the factory load...was just over 2400 fps.
Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

Checking my records from July 1990:  2530 FPS from a 16" barrel.
