Does a 7.5 grains of win. 231 under a 185 grain Honady xtp bullet sound right ? this would be shot in Supper BlackHawk 45 long Colt

Check your load manuals or get over to Hodgdon Powders on line and look it up. Not wise to just guess.

Only info I can find on 185 jacketed with 231 in .45 Colt says 7.6 to 8.5. Even the Hornady manual doe not show a load for a 185 XTP in .45 Colt.

You might want to check Winchester's web site - they have some reload data for their powders listed on the site.
