Getting ready for deer season
« on: June 25, 2010, 07:16:53 AM »
Well the cross bow is zeroed at 25 yards and is ready. I just Maximized two .357 handi rifles and scoped them up, primed about 800 cases and am ready to start load developement. The Savage .358 BFG is zeroed at 200 yards with 200 grain Barnes TSX @ 2600 f/s. Have 100 rounds loaded and ready to go. Got a new Cold Steel Pendleton hunter and a Gerber folding saw to handle the field dressing chores. Will inventory the hunting socks and gloves this week, water proof the boots again, and sort the coats, hats, bibs ect and run them through the laundry with scent destroyer and bag them up. Started exercising and dieting again to get down to hunting weight. (Doc"s orders) They are never happy until you are at your "ideal" weight, whatever that is. Got to check out the deer cart and make sure the bolts are tight. My Grandfather taught me make sure my knife was sharp and my gun sighted in. I guess all the rest is window dressing.

Last minute, heck I am behind schedule now! I am either thinking about deer hunting, preparing for deer hunting, or deer hunting. Ya know that moment of opportunity doesn't present itself often or for very long. Ya gotta be prepared. Luck is when opportunity meets preparedness. Anything that can go wrong will. And all those other little sayings. I just like messing around with my stuff. Gosh only 3 months left. Gotta load about 1000 rounds of .357 max. Geesh hasn't the season opened yet?
