Report...Model 60 Gets New Aperture sight

For along time I've been fooling around with my Marlin Mod 60 and I always wanted a peep sight on it. Didn't want a scope to add to weight and balance of the Mod 60 which points and handles good and fast. This last weekend while up country I found a Williams FP aperture sight in my gun stuff and it matched up to the receiver of the Mod 60 pretty darn well. You see peep sights on Rugers 10/22s but no too often on a Mod 60. I drilled and tapped the receiver which was soft alloy and a cinch to do. This sight attached with no modifications to even the factory stock. There is enough upward-downward travel of the orfice carriage that I did not need a new higher front sight...which was a real plus. I think it mounted up real slick and looks really nice and keeps the rifle light, sleek and fast.
Needless to say...I'm a happy camper with this set up.

nice job! Looks very nice and the shooting results look very good too. I just read an article on iron sites in the latest Rifle Magazine.

Excellent !
Did you ditch the rear barrel sight, filling the slot with either a commercial blank or a filed-down sight base, for a clean sight picture through the peep ?
