I have found a Western Field 740 in 30-30 at local gun store ,they are asking 199.00in good shape. Is it worth that?Blueing is 75 persent. What would be a good price?
I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.

I find the Western Field Model 740 cross-referenced as the Marlin Model 336.  Depending on the specific model designation, the 336 can be valued @ $195 to as much as $425 for the 336A-DL.  I would expect the Western Field to be worth a bit less than the Marlin 336TS:
Lever-action with hammer block safety. Caliber 30-30 Win. 6-shot tubular magazine, 18-5 inch, Micro-groove bbl. 37 inches overall. Weight- 6.5 lbs. Ramp front sight, adj. semibuckhorn folding rear.  Straight grip American black walnut stock.  Made 1983-87.
